15 – So Why Not Sell

We all work hard in this movie of life for not only ourselves but our loved ones. Everything from years of education, to climbing the ladder with long hours, to risks. Such is the American way. No doubt the assets that each has amassed will be passed down to the next generation when your final hour is up. Curious. How many of you want the value of your life’s earnings cut by 50% to appease others? I have asked this question to current and past “City” of Milton council members and staff over the years. Not one has truly responded. Waiting…

Going into our 45th year, I have witnessed countless zoning changes and sewer extensions throughout North Fulton with the Fulton County Bullies of Education, private businesses, and individuals benefiting. Growth and sprawl came, then taxes went up, then affected landowners wanted to move on, then zonings change, then strip centers, subdivisions, etc. end of taking the place of quiet farms. Thousands of acres of innocent countryside gone forever.

The family who owned the 35 acre farm behind me since the 1950’s knew their land was worth more than twice what the let it go for in 2021. The corner of Bethany and Mayfield is .3 miles from land headed into Crabapple formerly zoned agricultural until a few years back. Upon sewer extension and a high-density zoning change, one acre in an assemblage there sold for over one million dollars.

In speaking with one of the heirs, he would state they didn’t want to have to wait and fight with the “City” of Milton. Thus, innocents’ futures killed to appease corruption and hypocrisy.  Those given power are playing carnival attraction with properties they don’t own.

If my family’s property was south of Bethany Road’s new roundabout and into Alpharetta just .2 miles away from our mailbox, our 6.3-acre parcel’s value doubles. DOUBLES.

So, now you see why I don’t just “sell.” Considering the cronyism and illegal acts within the infamous “City” and said social groups, no doubt as soon as I did part ways for half the worth, my largest asset would then be flipped to another “in the know” who would then be walking away with the other half of my inheritance and my future.

If “accepting change” regarding issues that came our way without discretion is the true constant, then the same famous quote should apply across the board instead of supporting only one side of a narrative. “Accept change” by changing zoning and extending sewer so blameless citizens can move on with what is left of life before such ends should be the balance.

This whole situation exposes the reality that Milton Ga authorities refuse to recognize publicly but know privately; The “City” of Milton is not “rural” and hasn’t been for quite some time. Our lifestyle is not a valid concern; proven by the “City” of Milton’s lack of support for the agricultural and equestrian lifestyle as well as their violation of State and Federal Agricultural Law and ignorance of such.
